Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

Landon Michael's Nursery...
So...here's our VERY bright green nursery walls but I love it and I think it will look adorable once we get everything in there.
Here are some pics off of HGTV Rate My Space I'm using as inspiration.

Bananas...
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.
Not much to report this week. I got a steal on ebay for a lot of 39 pieces of maternity clothes for $200. All are motherhood, gap, old navy or liz lange. However none of the pants fit which is ok cuz I was looking more at tops anyways.
We did start on the nursery and that is all painted. The hardwood floor guy is suppose to come tomorrow but ya all know how that goes. Hopefully he does so I can start putting in furniture by the weekend or the following Tuesday afternoon.
My crazy yet thoughtful MIL went and bought all my bedding including my lamp, extra blankets, valances, decals, etc yesterday. It will be nice to be able to set up almost the entire nursery. I'll post pics as soon as it looks like a nursery.

Week 20 = Cantaloupe
So as you all know we had our BIG u/s and we have a healthy baby boy! We are thrilled! And I'm so in love!! Here is this weeks update:
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!
We found out at my u/s that my placenta sits anteriorly and which may cause me not to feel as many kicks but Baby T is kicking away and this week I'm finally feeling him throughout the day. He seems to wake up right after lunch and around 7 or 8ish at night. Its such a great feeling to know that he is alive in there. :-)

Meet our son.....via ultrasound

Spinal cord....Mike's a chiropractor and had to have this picture. He counted to make sure all 12 ribs were there and all vertebrae were there. Silly Daddy!

3-D shot of his face.
The ultrasound was amazing!!! We got a 20 minute DVD of the entire thing. Baby is measuring at 12 oz and around 20 weeks by all the growth measurements. We are still on cloud 9 that we have a healthy son on the way. No names yet! We got to see him moving his hands around and his mouth moving.

Opps....
Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.
So...I got a little behind as you all can see. January 4th we ordered our furniture which was a fiasco at our BRU. :::rolling my eyes::: It still irritates me to think about it. Anyway...I won't bore ya all with that. But will say that they were having a fantastic sale....If you bought 3 or more LARGE pieces you got 15% off, plus if you opened a credit card you got an additional 10% off. I think we saved $400. Anyways after all the chaos I got home that night and was pretty ticked sitting at the computer and all of a sudden (((((WHACK))))) I felt my first BIG kick! It caught me totally off guard. But ever since then I've been feeling a lot of movement at night. Which I love!!! :-)
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
Uh...what lovely information to know this week. ;-) Oh well. Baby furniture has arrived. WTH happened to 6 weeks?? I dunno. Well I have my BIG u/s this week, Thursday a 8 AM and I'm nervous and anxious as all could be. Its kinda sad cuz I'm not all that excited....in fact I'm terrified that they are going to tell me that something is wrong or that I haven't taken good care of myself. I'm just terrified that I've gotten this far and our hopes and dreams are going to be ripped away.
However, my fear hasn't stopped me from planning our nursery. I'm still dead set on this bedding.
So here is my idea....I use to be a HUGE beanie bear collector. I have 4 large bins downstairs with them all in. Its ridiculous. So I'm not planning on using them but rather the larger size ones called beanie buddies to decorate the nursery. I found these so far...unfortunately I don't have any...except one.

I think they are adorable!!! I can't wait!!!

And we have a decision...
Sometimes I really don't get men.....one minute they want to be involved in *important* decisions and the next its like you hafta shove it down their throats. :::sigh::: By *important* I mean stuff like picking out baby furniture. Anyway we finally made a decision...
I think we or should I say I, made another important decision and that is the bedding. I want the bedding in the pic of our crib. I *heart* it!! I don't care if we have a girl....I know its boyish but its too cute!

North Carolina to the Meineke Car Care Bowl...
So the day after Christmas, we flew to Charlotte, NC to watch the Mountaineers play in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. We had a blast!! Great seats, 8 rows from the end zone, Mike and I just had a great time! I think the baby was like "What the heck is going on?" since we sat right next to the band. I think he/she was dancing. he he! Also during the last 3 minutes of the game I started jumping up and down like crazy when the we knew we would win by 1 point. So I thought I would post some pics.

17 Weeks....Its an Onion!
This week....Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
For the 2nd time this pg I had an awful feeling that something was wrong with Baby T. I had an upset stomach or about 12 hours and the belly ache just hasn't gone away. Today is a lil better but it still BLAH feeling. :-(
I still feel Baby T moving around on occassion. I wish it was more but....
I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year!!
